About The Position
Incumbent responds to medical emergency calls and assesses the patient’s condition to determine a course of treatment; administers ALS (Advanced Life Support) on patient when necessary.
Requirements
- Ability to coordinate more than one patient at a time
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations from the Office of Emergency Medical Services
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Paramedic I: One (1) year practicing paramedic experience and/or medical control through a local hospital
- Paramedic II: Four (4) to eight (8) years paramedic experience
- Paramedic III: Eight (8) or more years paramedic experience
- Connecticut Licenses and Certifications: Paramedic, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support)
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license from state of residency
- Must acquire and maintain sponsor hospital medical control credentials
- Facial hair must not interfere with a respirator mask
- Must pass a medical examination annually, including a respiratory test
- Must perform strenuous or peak physical efforts during emergency, training or station maintenance activity for a prolonged period of time under conditions of extreme heights, intense heat and cold
