As a Paramedic, you will play an essential role in providing fast, high-quality emergency medical care through 911 response, inter-facility transport, public assistance services, and Emergency Department support across both pre hospital and hospital settings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of EMS experience preferred
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of a Paramedic course or equivalent required
  • Associate of Applied Science degree or equivalent preferred
  • Montana Paramedic license / Registered Nurse with Certificate of Equivalency or Physician Assistant license required
  • Maintain active license by completing annual refresher training and ongoing continuing education requirements
  • National Registry (NREMT) & PHTLS certifications preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
  • NRP and EVOC required within one year or at the earliest available offering
  • Critical Care Transport endorsement required within 18 months
  • Valid Montana driver's license with an excellent driving record required
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to lift and carry more than 75 pounds
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong reading, writing, and basic math abilities

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism, urgency, and compassion, delivering effective care to patients who are ill or injured
  • Assess, treat, stabilize, and transport patients experiencing medical, trauma, or environmental emergencies
  • Deliver immediate, life-saving treatment and patient care both on scene and during transport to the hospital.
  • Safely operate emergency vehicles in high-pressure situations across diverse road, weather, and traffic conditions.
  • Support patient care within the Emergency Department and hospital facilities by providing clinical assistance, technical assessments, and treatment interventions as needed
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, law enforcement, fire departments, Quick Response Units and other emergency responders to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Monitor patient conditions continuously and make critical treatment decisions in real time
  • Utilize advanced emergency medical equipment including defibrillators, ECG machines, ventilators, patient monitors, IV infusion pumps etc. to treat, resuscitate and stabilize patients
  • Perform advanced invasive procedures within scope of practice when necessary, including Intubation, IV insertion, Medication administration, Cardioversion, Cricothyrotomy, Thoracotomy etc.
  • Calculate and administer medication dosages and infusion rates based on rapidly changing patient conditions
  • Collect and interpret diagnostic data to support critical clinical decision-making and deliver effective patient-centered care that promotes recovery and overall health
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary pre hospital teams to support coordinated, high-quality patient care and effective care management
