About The Position

This role is for a Paramedic in the Emergency Department at Ascension St Vincent Castleton Micro Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. The position is full-time, working nights. The Paramedic will identify, intervene, and stabilize ill or injured patients under the direction of a physician and/or Registered Nurse. They will initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols, monitor and communicate patient condition, and provide population-specific education to patients and families. Additionally, the Paramedic will inspect, maintain, and care for equipment to ensure safety.

Requirements

  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Paramedic credentialed from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Drivers License credentialed from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Paramedic license required

Responsibilities

  • Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse.
  • Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
  • Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.
  • Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
