About The Position

Join Jefferson Health’s elite critical care transport team as a JeffSTAT Paramedic, where your expertise and dedication make an immediate difference in the lives of critically ill and injured patients. As the face of Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals during inter-facility and emergency transports, you will provide advanced clinical care and compassionate support in high-acuity settings.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in advanced life support procedures, including: Intubation, IV access, medication administration, EKG interpretation, chest decompression
  • Experience with mechanical cardiac assist devices (IABP, ECMO, VAD, Impella), external ventricular drains (EVD), and invasive monitoring devices (arterial lines, SWAN-Ganz, CVP)
  • Minimum 3 years (5,000+ hours) as a field paramedic in a critical care transport or 911 ALS environment
  • Current medical command standing with the Philadelphia EMS Office or equivalent in PA, NJ, or DE
  • Pennsylvania Paramedic (EMT-P) and National Registry Paramedic (NRP)
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS

  • PHTLS (within 6 months)
  • ATLS audit, ATCN, or TPATC (within 6 months)
  • ASLS and ABLS (within 6 months)
  • Delaware Paramedic certification (within 6 months)
  • Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic NJ – MICP (within 6 months)
  • FP-C or CCP-C within 2 years; FP-C required within 6 months of flight orientation
  • Air Crew Member certification for flight roles

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert-level care during transport in accordance with JeffSTAT’s evidence-based protocols and clinical standards.
  • Serve as a key communicator and care liaison to patients and families, explaining procedures, treatments, and next steps in the care journey.
  • Document thorough and timely patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in a professional patient care record.
  • Perform daily checks and maintenance on medical equipment, vehicle inventory, and clinical supplies to ensure mission-readiness.
  • Engage in continuous learning, simulation labs, clinical rotations, and competency reviews to stay sharp and ready for any critical care scenario.
