The JeffSTAT Paramedic provides care to patients during inter-facility and emergency transports, following predetermined JeffSTAT treatment protocols and standards of care. The paramedic cares for critically ill and injured patients and represents Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals as an often-first point of contact for patients and their families. The role includes completing patient care records documenting assessments, treatments during transport, and patient outcomes. Paramedics educate patients and families about the transport process, interventions performed, and what to expect at the receiving facility. At the beginning of each shift, they inspect medical equipment and supplies, complete an ambulance inventory checklist, record refrigerator temperatures, and perform glucometer control testing. Paramedics maintain knowledge and competency through mandatory meetings, chart and equipment reviews, skill labs, clinical rotations, continuing education, and annual recurrent competency requirements. They must maintain an active paramedic certification and all other certifications required by policy.
