The JeffSTAT Paramedic provides care to patients during inter-facility and emergency transports, following JeffSTAT’s predetermined treatment protocols and standards of care. The paramedic serves as an ambassador of Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals and may be the first member of the Jefferson healthcare delivery team whom patients and their families encounter. The role includes documenting patient assessments, treatments provided during transport, and outcomes following interventions. Paramedics educate patients and families about the transport process, interventions performed, and what to expect at the receiving facility. They also inspect medical equipment and supplies at the beginning of each shift, complete ambulance inventory and refrigerator temperature records, and perform glucometer control testing. The paramedic maintains knowledge and skills through mandatory meetings, chart and equipment reviews, skill labs, clinical rotations, and continuing education related to transporting critically ill or injured patients. The position requires completion of annual recurrent competencies and maintenance of an active paramedic certification and other certifications required by policy.
