About The Position

The Paramedic Field Supervisor is a licensed professional who assists the Ambulance Manager and Director of Emergency Services with the coordination and supervision of the day-to-day ambulance service operations. This role requires collaboration with MedCom and a strong understanding of system-wide EMS operations, clinical skill, judgment, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The supervisor will also collaborate with sending and receiving facilities to support the interface between pre-hospital care and the hospitals served.

Requirements

• Currently licensed by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority as a Paramedic.
• Accredited by the Sierra Sacramento Valley Emergency Medical Services to function as a Paramedic in the region.
• Current CPR recognition.
• Current ACLS recognition.
• California driver’s license with ambulance driver’s certificate to include medical exam certificate.
• Eligible to be insured under the Medical Center’s Liability Policy with DMV Report (and minimum age 21).

Nice To Haves

• Hazardous Materials training to the First Responder Operations Level prior to the conclusion of department orientation.
• Five years’ experience in the pre-hospital setting.
• Leadership and preceptor experience.
• A.S. degree in health-related field.
• Current PALS or Handtevy Prehospital Pediatric Provider recognition within 6 months of hire.
• Current AMLS (within 6 months of hire).
• PHTLS within 6 months of hire.
• EVOC within 6 months of hire.
• S-330 Strike Team and Task Force Leader (within 24 months).
• S-339 Division and Group Supervisor (within 24 months).
• R-150 Management of EMS (within 24 months).
• R-151 Advanced Leadership Issues in EMS (within 24 months).
• NAEMD Certification (within 24 months).
• Course instructor for at least one of the following: CPR, ACLS, AMLS, PHTLS, Handtevy, PALS or Stop the Bleed within 12 months of hire.
• ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 300, ICS 400, ICS 700 and ICS 800 within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Ambulance Manager and Director of Emergency Services with the coordination and supervision of day-to-day ambulance service operations.
• Work collaboratively with MedCom.
• Collaborate with sending and receiving facilities to support the interface of pre-hospital with the hospitals served.
• Demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills, and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis.
• Work effectively with peers, other departments, first responders, and the public using good interpersonal skills, discretion, and diplomacy.
• Fulfill the essential functions of the position.
• Gain practical knowledge of basic ambulance billing, basic ambulance billing guidelines, private insurance billing guidelines, and private pay requirements within six months of appointment.
• Gain an understanding of Medcom functionality, including the CAD system, the Radio System, and posting and standardized response plans within six months of appointment.
