About The Position

Somerset Community College invites applications for a Paramedic Clinical Coordinator- Instructor. This position, under indirect supervision, is responsible for the clinical aspects of the EMS-Paramedic Program. This position reports to the Program Coordinator of the EMS program and works closely with the Program Coordinator and Medical Director to ensure that each student has an appropriate educational experience.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Must be able to obtain National Registry Paramedic Certification within 60 days.
  • Compliant with all federal, state and local regulations, including licensing requirements as required by the discipline.
  • Minimum three years field experience as EMT/Paramedic.
  • KY EMS Educator certification.
  • KY Paramedic certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) instructor certification or ability to obtain.
  • NAEMSE Level I Educator certification.
  • Experience in a training or educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for clinical competency, scheduling, and monitoring of the EMS-Paramedic Program.
  • Responsible for QI/QA of student clinical reports.
  • Responsible for preceptor orientation, communication, and evaluation.
  • Responsible for assuring attainment of clinical skills for students.
  • Assist with public relations events for the EMS program.
  • Responsible for student compliance with immunizations. Assist with course content delivery, design, and revision.
  • Responsible for making sure that each student is qualified/prepared to participate in the clinical environment.
  • Prepare and maintain various records, reports, and files.
  • Arrange for coverage of classes during own absences and emergency leave.
  • Promote rapport within the campus and the community.
  • Conduct studies of completed training by creating, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting metrics to evaluate and track results.
  • Participate in professional organizations, as appropriate.
  • Participation in division, faculty, and coordinator meetings at the College.
  • Completion of professional development for both the career and college wide duties assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
