This position is responsible for providing attorneys in the Probate Practice litigation support. Requirements

  • An associate's degree in paralegal studies or legal assistance
  • Two years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or work involving legal procedures, terminology, or administration OR Associate's degree or higher in any field + a certificate in Paralegal Studies – no experience needed
  • Valid AZ Driver's License at time of hire
  • The incumbent in this position will be responsible for any annual compliance requirements imposed by the State Bar of Arizona and certifying authority
  • Selected candidates must successfully complete and pass a criminal background check.
  • MCAO is also authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and before placement

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with court proceeding, and trial preparation, including preparation of witness summaries, organization of exhibits, securing evidence and documentation, deposition abstracts, subpoenas and witness notifications
  • Assist attorneys in compiling annotations, indexes and provisions of statutes, cases and administrative decisions
  • Review, organize, indexes and Bates stamps pertinent documents for disclosure/discovery and for use in court
  • Conduct investigations and fact-finding
  • Assist in or conduct witness interviews, collect relevant documents and records; summarize information in detailed written form for attorneys
  • Analyze, organize, review and verify records and other documents obtained through the discovery process
  • Attend continuing legal education seminars and in-house training
