About The Position

Covia is seeking a driven, ambitious, curious, and collaborative Paralegal to join its legal team. This role will provide crucial legal support, ranging from administrative tasks to complex document review, fact-finding investigations, legal research, and the preparation of various legal documents. The paralegal will also contribute to the development and maintenance of departmental processes and will frequently liaise with company representatives and outside counsel to manage projects and filings. The position is based at Covia's corporate headquarters in Independence, Ohio, and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate or associate degree in a related field (overall experience will be considered in lieu of the Education requirement).
  • At least 5 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal (in-house legal experience a plus) or other comparable relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing litigation, claims, and insurance matters is preferred.
  • Experience working with commercial contracts and/or labor and employment is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, as well as database proficiency.
  • Able to utilize other software applications at an intermediate level and learn Company’s specific applications.
  • Willing to learn and use new technology, especially AI.

  • Able to formulate novel solutions that result in improved process and/or performance.
