About The Position

Caterpillar’s Law, Security & Public Policy Division (LSPP) is looking for an intermediate Paralegal to join a team of corporate and commercial paralegals. This role will primarily support attorneys and business partners within Caterpillar’s Remanufacturing Division, providing legal support for commercial, procurement, and business-risk management activities. The candidate will work directly with attorneys supporting Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division, while also having opportunities to collaborate on matters involving other Caterpillar business units. Legal support and projects will be assigned according to business needs, the complexity of the work, and the candidate’s prior experience. The position will assist attorneys with legal tasks and special projects related to commercial matters, procurement activities, and other areas of legal risk management that support and protect the organization. The legal work will be under the direction of various attorneys but will require the ability to work independently.

Legal Analysis: Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information.

Nice To Haves

5+ years of paralegal experience in a corporate law department, law firm, contracts function, procurement organization, or other relevant business environment.
Experience supporting commercial transactions, procurement activities, contract management, legal operations, or corporate compliance functions preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organization skills.

Responsibilities

Support legal matters impacting Caterpillar’s Remanufacturing Division, including commercial transactions and other business operations.
Work directly with attorneys in resolving legal, commercial, procurement, and business-risk related matters.
Conduct legal tasks, such as research and drafting, under the supervision of attorneys.
Maintain repositories of legal documentation and procedures.
Participate in specific team initiatives.
