About The Position

Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP is seeking a paralegal to join its class action team in the Berkeley office. The firm handles class-action and complex litigation on behalf of consumers, employees, college athletes, investors, whistleblowers, and others. The paralegal will support attorneys with legal briefs, deposition and oral-argument preparation, and administrative and filing functions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate.
Strong working knowledge of advanced Microsoft Office functions, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Excellent marketing, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Knowledge of rules regulating paralegals and legal assistants.
Knowledge of Federal ECF e-filing systems and ability to learn e-filing systems in other jurisdictions.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize workload, and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to perform under tight deadlines and maintain patience in high-pressure situations.
Ability to manage highly confidential information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity.

Nice To Haves

3+ years of experience as a paralegal preferred.

Responsibilities

Help finalize legal briefs, cite-check, apply Bluebook rules, format, and proofread.
Assist with deposition preparation by organizing, printing, and shipping exhibits.
Assist attorneys in preparing for oral arguments by creating binders and organizing briefs.
Help maintain a paperless office by scanning and filing documents in the document management system.
Perform word processing, filing, e-filing, service, and mailing of pleadings, documents, correspondence, and courtesy copies.
