About The Position

Canada’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system operates at a provincial level, with regulations and program requirements varying across jurisdictions. Successfully managing these distinctions while aligning with national objectives is key to program success. Product Care is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Paralegal to support the organization’s legal and contractual needs. This role works cross-functionally to draft, review, and manage contracts, coordinate with external counsel, and implement and manage a centralized contract tracking system. The position plays a key role in reducing risk and improving operational efficiency through ownership of contract and corporate governance processes. This role will report to the CFO/CIO.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Paralegal Studies or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 - 7 years of experience of corporate or commercial law.
  • Strong contract drafting and review skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to translate legal language into business terms.
  • Strong stakeholder management.
  • Process-oriented and self-starter.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, CRM, and Contract Management Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Contract Drafting & Review
  • Draft, review, and revise vendor, service, NDA, and partnership agreements.
  • Identify risks and ensure alignment with company standards.
  • Support contract negotiations.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk legal matters to external counsel as appropriate.
  • Cross-Functional Support
  • Act as primary contact for contract-related inquiries.
  • Partner with departments to ensure consistency in contracts.
  • External Counsel Coordination
  • Liaise with external legal counsel on complex matters.
  • Manage workflow and track legal spend.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management
  • Implement and maintain centralized contract tracking system.
  • Track renewals, expiries, and key terms.
  • Establish and enforce intake, approval and governance workflows.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
  • Maintain legal records and documentation.
  • Support audits and compliance activities.
  • Corporate Filings & Governance
  • Prepare, review, and file corporate documents, including annual returns, director/officer changes, and other statutory filings.
  • Maintain corporate records, minute books, and governance documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support corporate entity management across jurisdictions, including tracking filing deadlines and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external counsel and regulatory bodies on corporate filings and compliance matters.
  • Assist in board and committee governance processes, including preparing supporting documentation and maintaining records.
  • Monitor changes in corporate and regulatory requirements and ensure timely updates to internal practices.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned from time to time, based on organizational needs.
