The Paralegal, under general supervision of a North Carolina licensed attorney, provides legal assistance to the attorneys in drafting and reviewing legal documents to include contracts, legal memoranda, pleadings, and court filings. Spends a significant amount of time reviewing and drafting County contracts and other forms of agreement. Must have the ability to manage workflow and work under tight deadlines and other time constraints while responding to competing and shifting priorities. This position specifically supports Social Services, involving drafting, editing, reviewing, and filing various legal documents related to this area. It requires attending court to assist attorneys, reviewing information prepared by Social Work staff, and ensuring all necessary documentation and evidence are available for hearings and trials. Compliance with records requests and proper redaction of DSS records are also key responsibilities. The role requires adherence to NC General Statutes, case law, AOC regulations, and local court rules.
