About The Position

Universal Kids Resort is seeking a Paralegal to support the Supervisor and other Legal Team Members. This role involves performing legal research, reviewing and drafting contracts, managing contract life cycles, and ensuring compliance with advertising, marketing, and intellectual property laws. The Paralegal will also handle administrative tasks, review creative materials, and assist attorneys with document requests and reporting. Additionally, the role requires applying for and maintaining governmental licenses and permits, and providing legal guidance to business units under attorney supervision. The Paralegal may serve as a primary liaison between business units and attorneys.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (AA) is required - Paralegal Certificate (Bachelor’s degree acceptable in lieu of a Paralegal Certificate).
  • 2+ years corporate legal or law firm experience required.
  • Must be able to work in a high-paced environment handling multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of projects, legal and business information at all times.
  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred - B.A. in Legal Studies or a related field preferred.
  • 4+ years corporate legal or law firm experience preferred.
  • Experience using Adobe Workfront is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performing legal research on various topics.
  • Reviewing contracts and other documents to prepare summaries and tracked obligations checklists.
  • Contract drafting and review.
  • Administrative tasks such as contract life cycle management, scheduling, and document archiving.
  • Reviewing creative materials and consumer-facing communications for compliance with advertising, marketing, digital media, promotion laws, and intellectual property licenses.
  • Reviewing ticket, hotel, and package offers.
  • Providing and applying marketing guidelines to comply with applicable laws and/or regulations.
  • Maintaining department tickler systems, status reports, and corporate records.
  • Assisting attorneys in responding to document requests and compiling reports.
  • Applying for and maintaining required governmental licenses and permits.
  • Drafting and reviewing boilerplate agreements and amendments including non-disclosure agreements, scopes of work, master purchase agreements, concessionaire agreements, etc.
  • Routing contracts for approvals and execution.
  • Assisting attorneys in drafting, reviewing, and revising boilerplate production and promotions agreements and sweepstakes/contest rules, and drafting marketing services scopes.
  • Handling corporate administrative work including applying for and maintaining business and other licenses related to park, hotel, and resort operations.
  • Assisting attorneys in responding to document requests and in generating, compiling, and organizing legal reports and records.
  • Preparing contract summaries and tracked obligations checklists.
  • Managing tracked obligations and following up on tasks to ensure they are completed.
  • Maintaining obligation tracking software for contracts and operational licenses.
  • Maintaining an internal knowledge database to track legal research across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assisting Attorneys in reviewing intellectual property usage for compliance with licenses, government regulations, and marketing guidelines, and maintaining intellectual property records.
  • Reviewing and revising creative materials for compliance with license agreements, and state and federal laws.
  • Implementing and applying marketing principles based on federal and state marketing/advertising laws and regulations.
  • Conducting legal research for the purpose of supporting both existing businesses and new businesses as they are developed and opened.
  • Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
