About The Position

Blaszkow Legal, PLLC is expanding and seeking another Paralegal to join their growing office and fight for injured clients in Virginia and beyond. The firm emphasizes the need for a bilingual paralegal (English and Spanish). Blaszkow Legal, PLLC is an established personal injury law firm in Northern Virginia, founded in 1992. They litigate personal injury and insurance claims in state and federal courts in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. The firm is described as small, aggressive, and tech-savvy, focused on outside-the-box solutions to optimize client recoveries. They handle a wide range of cases, from modest value to major seven-figure cases, and their client-centric approach consistently earns five-star reviews. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills for client interaction from intake through all stages of litigation. Job duties include intake interviews, case investigation and preparation, medical record review, drafting and responding to correspondence, and preparing pleadings and other court filings. A strong desire to advocate for clients is essential. This is a full-time position that may occasionally require weekend and evening work. It is not an entry-level position, and experience in personal injury practice (plaintiff, defense, workers comp, etc.) is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in law; experience in personal injury practice is required!
  • Familiarity with civil procedure (Virginia, Maryland, and/or DC)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to build rapport with clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • For bilingual candidates: must be fluent in English and Spanish (Amharic, Arabic, Farsi, etc)

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual candidates who are fluent in English and Spanish (or Amharic, Arabic, Farsi, etc) will receive a translation bonus
  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Interview new clients and perform comprehensive evaluations of what has been done, and what needs to be
  • Actively review cases in pre-litigation, ensuring that medical records are being received and investigations are complete
  • Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, other staff members, etc.
  • Evaluate cases, including determining potential for resolution and need for litigation
  • Briefing and advising managing attorneys on case postures and outcomes
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, motions
  • Administrative and other management functions related to the practice of law
