MDK is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Paralegal to provide essential support to a team of legal professionals. In this role, you will assist with preparing a variety of standard legal documents, ensuring that all communication between clients, courts, and the legal team are handled efficiently to keep cases progressing in a timely manner. Requirements

  • Law firm experience, 3-5 years is preferred.
  • Must be located near our Columbus or Cleveland office.

Nice To Haves

  • Professionals who have earned an associate’s/bachelor’s degree are preferred but is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Review case management system and take responsibility for tasks within your scope, ensuring cases are progressing in a timely manner.
  • Prepare, process, and review standard legal notices and pleadings.
  • Ensure successful service of process for assigned cases.
  • Assist the team with tasks related to the sale of properties.
  • Assist with hearing preparation, scheduling, client communication, and reviewing results; manage hearings in compliance with court orders.
  • Coordinate communication between tenants, occupants, property preservation groups, and clients, particularly on eviction matters.
  • Handle phone calls related to eviction matters with tenants, clients, courts, and sheriffs.
  • Request attorney fees from clients.
  • Update client systems as tasks are processed.
  • Assist with the training of new team members as needed.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MDK culture and support the company’s mission and values.
  • Support the team in meeting firm expectations and goals.
  • Actively work to familiarize yourself with the entire legal process for all tasks performed by the team.
