About The Position

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a leading global law firm, is seeking a Paralegal for its Labor & Employment Practice Group. This role reports to the Senior Practice Support Manager and involves direct collaboration with partners, associates, and other paralegals. The position is crucial for legal research, document preparation, case and project management, client communication, preparation for mediation, arbitration, and trials, and overall team coordination. The role is based in the Philadelphia office and offers a flexible, hybrid work arrangement (2 days remote, 3 days in-office).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or university
  • Minimum 2 – 4 years of administrative and legal support experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Portable Document Format (PDF) software.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while also functioning effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to pivot and adapt to change and balance competing demands.

Nice To Haves

  • Fact research skills, preferred.
  • Prior experience in a law firm, legal, or other client service environment, is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with iManage, Adobe PDF
  • Experience with computer aided software (CAD)
  • Strong technical background.
  • Understanding of litigation support systems including, WestLaw, WestLaw Case Notebook, Lexis/Nexis, and Relativity, strongly desired.
  • Interest in pursuing/continuing in a career within the legal and/or business community.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes, organizes, and maintains case and client files
  • Serves as a liaison between the client and the firm to strengthen client relationships
  • Collects, organizes, and maintains essential data and fact discovery used to influence attorney strategy
  • Enhances communication with client, increases efficiency, and builds trust with internal/external clients
  • Responsible for document and database maintenance and data analysis
  • Assists staff and attorney stakeholders to scope, plan, and manage medium to high complexity projects on a global scale
  • Assists with service of discovery requests and document productions
  • Assists with drafting, proofreading, editing, and filing court filings, briefings, and supporting exhibits
  • Participates in fact investigation, witness interviews, and research into publicly available documents
  • Fact-checks, Cite-checks and Bluebooks briefs, memoranda, expert reports, etc
  • Creates Tables of Authorities and Tables of Contents for court briefings
  • Coordinates all events/deadlines with the Firm’s Litigation Docketing Department
  • Tracks and communicates case-related deadlines and information
  • Assists with deposition/discovery logistics and preparation
  • Assists with witness preparation, creation of direct- and cross-examination compendia
  • Assists with pretrial submissions including exhibit lists, deposition designations, and trial briefs
  • Assists with trial logistics, electronic courtroom set up, and demonstratives
  • Attends trial and provides trial assistance to case team including exhibit logging/tracking
  • Supports the development and management of case matters and practice group timelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned
