About The Position

The Real Estate/Transaction Paralegal is responsible for assisting attorneys throughout the full lifecycle of real estate closings and commercial transactions. This includes but is not limited to preparing and reviewing closing documents, coordinating title and survey review, managing due diligence, drafting transaction documents, and coordinating closings from contract through post-closing recording.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a real estate or transactional paralegal.
  • Detail oriented with strong proofreading skills.
  • Working knowledge of title insurance, closing procedures, and real property recording requirements.
  • Familiarity with commercial contract drafting and corporate transaction documents.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication across a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff while maintaining a high level of work quality and customer service.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree with ABA paralegal certification, or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies preferred.
  • Notary public commission a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and revise closing documents, including deeds, deeds of trust, mortgages, bills of sale, and assignments.
  • Order and review title commitments, surveys, zoning reports and UCC searches, and coordinate with title companies and lenders to clear title exceptions.
  • Coordinate real estate closings end-to-end, including scheduling, document execution, funding, and post-closing recording and follow-up.
  • Draft and manage transaction documents for commercial matters, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, loan documents, and corporate formation or authority documents.
  • Maintain due diligence checklists and closing binders, and track deadlines across multiple simultaneous transactions.
  • Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, brokers, and lenders to gather documentation and resolve open items.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, lenders, title companies, and staff at all levels in a courteous and professional manner with a strong client-service orientation.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple simultaneous transactions while adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
