About The Position

The Paralegal Specialist will be responsible for summarizing legal documentation and communication for the Senior Management Team, performing records research and legal research, and coordinating research with the community management team and/or key players. This role involves checking legal forms for accuracy, preparing reports and correspondence, and drafting various legal documents. The specialist will also process and follow up on insurance claims, sit through mediations on insurance claims, and maintain knowledge of state and local regulations for AL, MC, and SNF communities. Additionally, they will maintain, track, and submit paperwork for all licenses at each community, and provide training, education, and support at the community level, including on worker’s compensation and EEOC issues. Occasional review of associate handbooks, resident handbooks, resident agreements, and community licensures for compliance and correctness is also part of the role. The ideal candidate will be extremely efficient, intelligent, and detail-oriented, leading by example and exhibiting CORE Values while maintaining a good attitude, encouraging teamwork, and promoting company philosophy. The position requires promptness and the ability to perform duties on a regular, predictable basis.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years-experience in a healthcare or real estate legal department or law firm
  • Knowledge of healthcare laws, real estate transactions, compliance laws and regulations
  • Understand governance, compliance, regulatory environments and litigation in a healthcare environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and will be able to work in a high paced, timeline driven corporate office setting
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Outlook software. Basic typing skills required
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, associates, residents, family members, state regulatory agencies, hospitals, and outside contacts
  • Knowledge of current Federal and State laws pertaining to assisted living and/or memory care communities
  • Must meet all state health requirements
  • Able to make independent decisions
  • Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
