About The Position

The Paralegal – Real Estate Title and Survey is a valued member of our preeminent Real Estate practice who will focus on title and review along with servicing a wide range of transactions and supporting real estate lawyers across our firm. Our global real estate group is renowned for first-class legal skills and market knowledge. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of title and survey work, be known for proactively completing tasks and following through with the speedy resolution of issues with minimal supervision and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines under very tight time constraints and other demands. This position will, at times, require work outside of typical business-day hours in order to meet transaction closing requirements. This is a billable position requiring accurate and timely submission of matter-attributable billable hours, with a billing requirement of at least 1,650 hours per evaluation period. For purposes of supervision and reporting, the position will receive day-to-day work direction and oversight from the Real Estate partners. Administratively, the position will report to the Director of Practice Support.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word) and other computer skills.
  • Five (5)+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably from a large law firm or title company environment required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience performing diligence directly.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of title and survey review across all types and sizes of transactions for the firm’s Real Estate practice.
  • Review and summarize exceptions listed in title commitments, identify and analyze title issues, finalize pro formas and related endorsements, assist with collating and coordinating flood due diligence for clients, and work closely with deal attorneys to develop practical solutions or structure alternatives for title issues.
  • Execute the timely completion of due diligence deliverables, often under tight transaction deadlines.
  • Manage various transactions, which vary in size and complexity from single-property deals to complex portfolios involving 50 to 100 properties or significantly more.
  • Support and partner with attorneys, who will work directly with title companies, borrower’s counsel, and other third parties to ensure all diligence is completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Meet the minimum requirement of 1,650 annual billable hours.
