About The Position

Adjunct Paralegal Instructor – Job Description The Adjunct Paralegal Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in a range of legal specialty courses within the paralegal program. Courses may include Introduction to Paralegal Studies, Civil Procedure, Legal Research and Writing, and other related subjects. Instruction may be delivered in both in-person and online formats.

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with students, staff, faculty, and clinical site staff.
  • Ability to address student needs and resolve issues with diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills including questioning, listening and showing concern and respect for others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity and commitment to comply with policies, regulations, and codes of conduct governing all aspects of job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated professional experience in the legal field.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level preferred.
  • Familiarity with online course delivery methods and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Familiarity with Blackboard a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of paralegal and legal specialty courses in accordance with approved curriculum and course objectives, in both on-campus and online learning environments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with online learning platforms and instructional technology.
  • Develop and deliver engaging instructional activities designed to achieve stated learning outcomes across multiple delivery formats.
  • Prepare and maintain course materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, assessments, and instructional handouts, ensuring accessibility and alignment with course standards.
  • Evaluate and grade student coursework, including assignments, projects, papers, examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other required documentation; submit reports and materials by established deadlines.
  • Provide academic support to students through office hours (virtual and/or in-person), email communication, and scheduled appointments.
  • Participate in required meetings with division faculty, related to instructional responsibilities, professional development, and program assessment.
