About The Position

Supports Transactional group in New York, New York and in Cleveland, Ohio. Assists with real estate, acquisition/divestiture, joint ventures, and investment matters including, without limitation, preparation of transaction forms (e.g., leases and amendments, purchase agreements, letters of intent, disclosure schedules, diligence checklists, etc.); maintenance of deal documents and closing binders; maintenance of matter management records. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization. This position is located in the New York, New York office and requires in-office attendance four (4) days per week.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, Foxit PDF
  • Comfortable learning and using legal technology tools and systems
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of the corporate structure
  • Self-motivated team player with the proven ability to work independently and prioritize and handle numerous competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment, frequently under urgent deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Genuine interest in transactions, insurance, and finance
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly
  • 3-5 years of experience as a transactional paralegal

Nice To Haves

  • Previous law firm experience and/or in-house legal department experience
  • Flexibility with overtime
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint
  • 5+ years of experience as a transactional paralegal

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of legal documents and correspondence.
  • Draft and revise all forms of transaction/deal documents.
  • Lien searches, UCC filings, other transactional filings
  • Coordinate signature requests
  • Update and maintain matter management system (Onit)
  • Review and revise basic NDAs
  • Build and manage library of template documents
  • Track attorney workflows
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide limited administrative support, such as coordinating calendars and calendar management, sorting and distributing mail, processing invoices, scanning and saving records, submitting expenses and handling copies, larger print jobs and mailings.
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
  • General support of projects for the Legal department, as needed.
