This is the first level of Paralegal work, with a focus on protecting the State's interests in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings. The Paralegal establishes and maintains case files, manages correspondence, prepares and files bankruptcy claims, motions and objections, as well as tracks filing deadlines and answers taxpayer phone calls. The Paralegal should be able to identify issues with case files and documentation and be prepared to reach out to auditors and other Revenue staff to gather additional information as needed. Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.
