About The Position

Bowman and Brooke LLP is a national product liability trial law firm with nearly 200 lawyers across 17 offices, specializing in defending manufacturers of motor vehicles, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and consumer products in high-exposure lawsuits and mass torts. The firm has surpassed its 1,000th trial milestone. They are seeking a warranty paralegal to join their growing team in Troy, Michigan. Paralegals are considered vital members of the case teams, valued for their ideas and contributions.

Requirements

Meticulous, diligent, personable, and highly motivated
Ability to anticipate next steps and exercise independent judgment to make sound decisions
Comfortable with learning new technology and processes
Ability to travel nationwide to attend trial (if needed)
Familiarity with client billing guidelines
Experience recording billable hours and writing effective time entries
A Bachelor’s Degree, Paralegal Certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

2+ years’ litigation experience in a law firm setting
Defense consumer warranty and lemon law experience

Responsibilities

Prepare, edit, and proofread a variety of documents (correspondence, agreements and pleadings)
Work with attorneys to keep litigation advancing in each case; including taking the initiative to regularly update team members on the status of cases and quickly alerting attorneys to important client and case needs
Assist attorneys with discovery, including discovery requests, depositions, and document production
Assist with document review and analysis through various platforms
Manage electronic case files using a document management system (iManage) to ensure information is organized and easy to locate
Prepare for mediations, arbitrations, client meetings, trial (including compiling trial materials, coordinating witnesses, preparing and managing exhibits, attending trial)
