About The Position

This position is only open to candidates currently pursuing their associates degree from a community college or trade school. Those currently pursuing their bachelors degree or higher will not be considered for this role. Allstate is only hiring in Michigan, Maryland, Georgia, Texas, Florida, Texas, and California for this specific role. Early Career Apprentice Program Want to work in your field and train on the job? Allstate will also provide tuition assistance and hands-on training in customer service and claims processing. Summary The paralegal apprentice provides paralegal support for Client Legal Services attorneys. The role prepares pleadings and motions. Under general attorney supervision, this individual facilitates the discovery process, including obtaining records, reviewing documents, interviewing clients, preparing trial materials, and summarizing and analyzing research.

Requirements

Currently pursuing an associate's degree from a community college or trade school
Must be hired in Michigan, Maryland, Georgia, Texas, Florida, Texas, or California
Must submit to a background investigation

Responsibilities

Assist with the identification and summarizing of relevant issues; continually monitor issues and update attorney, as appropriate
Communication with Claim Business Partners and Plaintiff Attorneys on case status
Review new and proposed legislation and determine applicability
Review new file assignments, draft initial pleadings (e.g. answer, motion, etc.), and draft discovery
Prepare brief to assist client in presenting case in small claims court
Draft responses to discovery demands
Assist clients in answering questions regarding discovery
Review and serve responses to discovery demands
Assist attorney in preparing materials for trial, arbitration or mediation
