About The Position

The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full time Paralegal 2 in the Regional Services Division Port Angeles. This position is located in Port Angeles, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE). Requirements

  • Four years of experience through: Paralegal certification, Two-year paralegal degree, Paralegal plus (or nine-month paralegal, post BA) certification, and/or Paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney OR One year experience as a Paralegal 1 in Washington State Service.
  • Preparing legal pleadings and legal correspondence
  • Ensuring and verifying timely and proper service of legal documents
  • Calculating, verifying, and calendaring critical events and other dates
  • Managing case documents, files and exhibits
  • Tracking and organizing discovery documents
  • Researching legal issues and verifying legal citations and references for accuracy
  • Maintain emotional and physical wellbeing in the face of difficult and traumatic case facts.
  • Be an independent learner and self disciplined in performing litigation support tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating legal support excellence in both a paralegal 1 and paralegal 2 role.
  • Knowing how and excelling in all aspects of legal support and office administration without any management responsibilities.
  • Reviewing information and drafting petitions based on that information.
  • Preparing court orders and motions.
  • Filing documents.
  • Reviewing discovery.
  • Calling and scheduling witnesses.
  • Being part of a litigation team.
  • Supporting DCYF in protecting children subjected to child abuse and neglect.
  • Finding strength and perseverance in the face of difficult fact patterns knowing that their work can improve the lives of others.
  • Understanding the ebb and flow of duties and assignments and develop own processes, over time, to accomplish tasks with limited effort.
  • Covering, mentoring, and training peers.
  • Picking up teammates’ work and help them reach a final work product.
  • Being a team player and ready to help.
