About The Position

The Paraeducator will work in a LEAP (Learners Excelling And Progressing) Lab/Resource setting, providing collaboration, monitoring, co-teaching, and direct instruction services. They may also work in RISE (Reaching Independence through Structured Education) or LIFE (Learning In a Functional Environment) classrooms, which focus on functional skills and modified curricula for students with mild/moderate or severe/profound disabilities, respectively. Additionally, the role may involve working in an ABLE (Academic and Behavioral Learning Environment) classroom for students with emotional and behavioral concerns. The primary goal is to assist in creating a smoothly functioning classroom environment where students can maximize their learning and utilize available resources.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  • 48 college hours, associate's degree, or ability to complete WorkKeys tests within 60 days of hire date.
  • Successful completion of Paraprofessional training provided by the district.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Oklahoma Tier II Paraprofessional Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for classroom activities under the supervision of a certified teacher.
  • Assist the teacher with instructional classroom duties.
  • Assist the teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, including feeding, tube feeding, toileting (including changing diapers), clothing management, and transitions between classrooms and activities.
  • Assist with an individual child's particular needs when called upon.
  • Perform clerical duties for the assigned teacher.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
