This position's responsibilities are to ensure the safety and well-being of students in a variety of non-classroom settings, such as lunchrooms, hallways, and playgrounds. The Paraeducator - Student Supervision performs duties including supervising student behavior, ensuring students follow rules, assisting with mealtime setup and cleanup, monitoring playground equipment, identifying student first aid needs, ensuring adults on school grounds are checked in, establishing rapport with students, communicating with staff about student behaviors, organizing and participating in activities, helping to involve isolated and special needs students in group activities, and monitoring restrooms. Other functions include patrolling the playground for lost items and potentially serving on district committees. The position requires dealing with a wide range of student behaviors, including potentially difficult individuals, and demands alertness and safety awareness. The role may involve working outdoors in inclement weather, standing for prolonged periods, lifting or moving students or equipment, and exposure to infectious diseases and high noise levels.
