This Paraeducator Specialist (1:1 student support) position at Larson Heights Elementary involves coordinating activities or performing specialized duties to assist in providing instruction to and supervision of students in a variety of instructional and non-instructional programs. The role primarily focuses on providing behavioral and academic support to a specific student, helping them engage in learning activities and maintain emotional regulation. The paraeducator will collaborate with the student's case manager and other staff to implement strategies for the student's success. A key goal is to promote the student's independence by fostering their ability to complete tasks, manage behaviors, and interact appropriately with others. The position requires strict adherence to the student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), including recognizing triggers, implementing preventive strategies, and using positive behavior supports to de-escalate challenging behaviors with district-approved techniques. Completion of Safety Care Behavioral Safety Training is mandatory. The role may also involve assisting with personal care tasks, academic interventions, and adaptive responsibilities based on the student's unique needs. Ongoing professional development is expected to enhance skills in behavior management, assistive technologies, and supporting student independence. Compliance with all district policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality and supporting a positive learning environment, is essential. Punctual and consistent attendance is required, with early notification to the supervisor for any necessary absences.
