This role involves providing individualized support to a student with specific needs, as outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP). The paraeducator will offer behavioral and academic support, focusing on helping the student engage in learning and maintain emotional regulation. Collaboration with the student's case manager and other staff is crucial for implementing strategies to enhance participation and success in both academic and non-academic settings. A primary goal is to foster the student's independence by developing skills for task completion, behavior management, and appropriate social interaction. The paraeducator must precisely follow the student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), recognizing triggers, implementing preventive strategies, and using positive behavior supports to de-escalate challenging behaviors with district-approved techniques. Completion of Safety Care Behavioral Safety Training is mandatory. The paraeducator will also participate in ongoing professional development and adhere to all district policies and procedures.
