About The Position

Boulder Valley School District seeks a Paraeducator-Instructional at Flatirons Elementary in Boulder, Colorado. The role assists students with classroom work, including computers, language arts, math, and research, and supports teachers with classroom preparation and instructional activities. The position is temporary through December 18, 2026, at 0.55 FTE (22 hours per week) on a nine-month schedule. The stated hourly pay range is $19.30–$24.54, with placement based on experience and education. The paraeducator supports students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth through monitoring, communication, collaboration with families and school personnel, and assistance with instructional plans. Duties also include classroom preparation, small-group and individual instruction, supervision, basic technical assistance, data collection, and participation in staff development and meetings. The position starts November 4, 2026.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to communicate in English by reading, writing, and speaking.
Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
Complete and submit the BVSD online application.
Physically able to run with a student to keep the student in close proximity, as described in the duties.

Responsibilities

Assist students with basic classroom work, including computers, language arts, math, and research.
Assist teachers with classroom preparation, including copying, filing, laminating, grading, attendance, and instructional centers.
Monitor student course progress, grades, completion, and progress toward graduation.
Communicate with students and parents or guardians about academic achievement and growth gaps.
Meet with students at least bi-weekly and collaborate with students, families, Special Education teachers, counselors, administrators, school and district personnel, and external agencies to address issues and support improvement plans.
Participate in student enrollment transfer and intake processes.
Review IEPs with the Special Education case manager as needed to ensure academic programming and credit recovery options meet individual student needs.
Collaborate with teachers, the principal, and school staff to identify student needs and recommend support.
Share information with teachers to support students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth.
Provide basic technical support for course enrollment, parent accounts, and general technical problems; connect users to appropriate personnel when needed.
Provide basic instruction to parents and students on using the Learning Management System and other technical tools.
Monitor and collect quantitative and qualitative data and participate in collaborative data analysis to inform instruction, management practices, behavioral and social-emotional plans, school-level practice and policies, and program evaluation.
Participate in professional development, leadership activities, faculty meetings, and other related training or meetings.
Assist with curriculum delivery to individuals and small groups to support mastery of subjects.
Supervise and monitor students during playground, lunchroom, field trips, passing periods, and classroom activities.
Keep eloping students within 3–5 feet to support their safety; be able to run with a student to maintain close proximity.
Assist injured or sick students in getting to the health room.
Cover a classroom for short periods, up to 30 minutes, when the teacher is away.
Perform other duties as assigned.
