EPR - 3 Paraeducators - Best Buddies - HS
About The Position
South Fayette Township School District is seeking three Paraeducators to support students with disabilities during after-school extra-curricular activities as part of the Best Buddies program at the High School. This role involves providing direct assistance to students, implementing behavior support plans, and encouraging social engagement and participation. The position requires individuals who can work cooperatively with students and staff, possess strong communication and writing skills, and are willing to learn about specific disabilities and positive behavior support strategies. Training will be provided.
Requirements
- Possess a two-year or four-college degree graduate
- Possess a current CPR Certified (First aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Possess the ability to work with children with disabilities
- Possess the ability to work cooperatively with others
- Possess the ability to communicate with adults and children
- Possess excellent writing skills
- Possess the ability to learn about the characteristics of specific disabilities
- Possess the ability to learn and be trained a positive behavior support plan
Responsibilities
- Assisting a student(s) with special needs during a High School extra curricular activity.
- Supporting the student(s) with a positive behavior support plan.
- Encouraging the student(s) to engage and participate socially with peers in the extra curricular activity.
- Encouraging the student(s) to perform tasks directed by the facilitator of the extra curricular activity.
- Responsible for effective and appropriate communication with students and staff.
- Encouraging independence of students when deemed appropriate dependent on the requirements of the activity.
