About The Position

Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, equipment inspection, repair, and technical directive incorporation for flight equipment such as parachutes and related components, seat pans, helmets, oxygen masks, flight vests, and other equipment associated with aircraft maintenance. Tasks include Organizational/Intermediate maintenance requirements. Requires extensive knowledge of equipment used by pilots and in aircraft for which the rigger is certified. Must become qualified and certified in explosives handling personnel qualification and certification program. Must be customer-oriented.

Requirements

  • Qualified Parachute Rigger “A” School graduate or equivalent in accordance with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2B.
  • Minimum of three years (within the last five years) practical experience at the aircraft organizational or intermediate maintenance level.
  • Successfully completed approved course or training as required by Company, State/Local Govt, DOD, regulation/Instruction.
  • Experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Personnel shall be qualified according to their field of expertise and the level of maintenance assigned, i.e., “O” or “I” level.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Must be a US citizen and completed high school or equivalent.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Become qualified and certified in explosives handling personnel qualification and certification program in accordance with COMNAVAIRFORINST 8023.3 series.
  • Be capable of becoming Plane Captain certified when directed by management.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, repair, repack, and/or manufacture aircraft and related aircrew survival, aviators personal equipment, support equipment, oxygen components and accessories in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals, technical directives, and other approved data.
  • Operate support equipment necessary to perform maintenance functions.
  • Coordinate with supervision and Quality Assurance to resolve questions concerning serviceability and repair procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.
  • Train aircrew in the proper use of safety, water, and survival equipment.
  • Operate, adjust, clean, and lubricate sewing machines; sew heavy and/or light material and vinyl by machine or manually for removal, installation, and minor repair of flight clothing.
  • Perform duties of Aviator’s Breathing Oxygen (ABO) Analyst when authorized and designated.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work center and assigned work area.
  • Perform aircraft inventory, acceptance, and transfer inspections.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction as required.
  • Maintain and/or complete required records and applicable maintenance forms.
  • Perform daily duties normally associated with this specialty.
  • Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Assist in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
  • Operate SE, flight line vehicles, and other support equipment as required.
  • Perform corrosion detection, treatment, prevention, and documentation per customer/management instructions on aircraft and associated equipment.
  • Annotate maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF and NALCOMIS/OOMA.
  • Assist with ordering parts, tools, materials, and equipment as required.
  • Keep shop area clean and participate in hanger cleanup daily.
