About The Position

This survey course will trace the pivotal historical, social, and political factors that have contributed to the development of paramedicine and the paramedic profession as we know it today. The field of paramedicine has come a long way from the Napoleonic wars where soldiers were transported by cart from the frontlines of battle to field hospitals.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in either Leadership, Public Administration, or Paramedicine.
  • Business or Science as a required discipline.
  • Paramedicine as a required area of specialization.
  • Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), or Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), or Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) as a required professional designation.
  • Demonstrated experience as an adult educator or guest lecturer to adult learners.
  • Subject matter expertise in the area of the history of paramedicine.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of senior leadership experience in a municipal, provincial or territorial ambulance / paramedic / emergency medical service, with roles including system-wide budgetary responsibility, system planning, transition management, and political acuity.
  • Extensive experience across various roles and types of EMS providers both nationally and internationally.
  • Understanding of service delivery models and performance metrics across Canadian paramedic services.
  • Must be a paramedic (either working or retired).
  • Internal members of the CTF bargaining unit.

Responsibilities

  • Teach PARA200 -Field of Paramedicine-F26
  • Deliver lecture-style instruction virtually synchronously.
  • Engage with an anticipated class size of 75 students.
  • Utilize subject matter expertise in the history of paramedicine.
  • Apply experience as an adult educator or guest lecturer to adult learners.
  • Leverage senior leadership experience in a municipal, provincial or territorial ambulance / paramedic / emergency medical service, including system-wide budgetary responsibility, system planning, transition management, and political acuity.
  • Share extensive experience across various roles and types of EMS providers both nationally and internationally.
  • Provide understanding of service delivery models and performance metrics across Canadian paramedic services.
