This position involves working with and supervising students who have special needs, specifically disabled students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities in a life skills/transition classroom setting and in work experience settings. The paraeducator will collaborate with the special education teacher, other paraeducators, and specialists, supervising students both on and off campus. Duties may include implementing educational instruction, assisting with personal care such as diapering, feeding, or tube feeding, and lifting and positioning students. The role may also require administering medication and/or catheterizing students after receiving appropriate training. The paraeducator will be responsible for maintaining documentation to monitor student progress and will perform all duties in accordance with Kennewick School District policies and procedures. Other related duties will be assigned as needed. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
