About The Position

The Para-Educator is responsible for assisting the program instructor in the delivery of instruction, reinforcement of instruction and the remediation of students in the area of responsibility. The Para-Educator may be assigned to one classroom or to a variety of assignments including clinical sites, depending on the needs of students. Para-Educators report to the assigned classroom instructor. Provides instructional and program support for Therapeutic Services/Sports Medicine students under the direction of a certificated instructor and may serve as a substitute instructor when needed. Assists with implementing instructional activities, student goals and objectives, assessments, and collecting data related to student programs and services. Supports Therapeutic Services/CTE activities, including advisory committee meetings, CTSO experiences, and work-based learning opportunities. Maintains required certifications/licenses and follows district procedures for classroom management, health, safety, materials, equipment, and facilities. Demonstrates effective communication, technology skills, professionalism, sound judgment, dependability, positive working relationships, and the ability to accept supervision and direction. Participates in required staff meetings and professional development and demonstrates flexibility, punctuality, good attendance, and commitment to the district’s mission and expectations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a program-related field.
  • Minimum of 4,000 recent and relevant work hours in a program-related field within the past six years.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Patient Care Technician certification/license preferred.
  • Experience working with high school students is preferred.
