About The Position

The Truss and Panel Designer is responsible for creating accurate structural designs for roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels using specialized software. This role requires strong technical knowledge of building construction, engineering principles, and industry standards to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective structural component designs.

Requirements

Strong technical knowledge of building construction, engineering principles, and industry standards.
Proficiency in CAD-based truss design software (e.g., MiTek, Alpine, Simpson, EnSuite).
Ability to analyze load requirements, building codes, and structural specifications.
Skill in reviewing architectural and structural plans.
Ability to collaborate with engineers.
Effective communication with contractors, builders, architects, and internal sales teams.
Ability to provide technical support and recommendations.
Capability to revise designs based on customer changes, site conditions, and production constraints.
Experience in preparing material lists, cut sheets, and manufacturing details.
Ability to coordinate with plant supervisors.

Responsibilities

Create detailed designs and layouts for roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panel systems using CAD-based truss design software (e.g., MiTek, Alpine, Simpson, EnSuite).
Produce complete, accurate shop drawings and layout plans for manufacturing and construction teams.
Analyze load requirements, building codes, and structural specifications to ensure compliant designs.
Review architectural and structural plans, identifying discrepancies, omissions, or inconsistencies.
Work closely with engineers to validate structural integrity and meet code requirements.
Make design adjustments based on engineering feedback, customer needs, and field conditions.
Communicate with contractors, builders, architects, and internal sales teams to clarify design requirements.
Provide technical support and recommendations for construction feasibility and cost-efficient solutions.
Revise designs based on customer changes, site conditions, and production constraints.
Prepare material lists, cut sheets, and manufacturing details for production teams.
Coordinate with plant supervisors to ensure designs can be manufactured efficiently and safely.
Troubleshoot design-related problems during manufacturing or jobsite installation.
