About The Position

The incumbent fabricates metal pieces by cutting and bending pieces according to work order requirements. The incumbent then assembles pieces according to schematics, blueprints, or SOPs. This position is located in an industrial/production environment, with exposure to noise levels typical of a manufacturing production environment, intermittent exposure to cold or heat, and the ability to work in proximity to moving, mechanical parts and machinery.

Requirements

• Metal fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to read written procedures and understand work orders and blueprints
• Ability to use the correct tool for the task
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent required
• Demonstrated high level of quality in workmanship
• Basic math, reading, and reasoning skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, written and oral
• Demonstrated knowledge and use of the above mentioned tools
• Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Demonstrated multi-tasking ability to respond to manufacturing needs
• High attention to detail; ability to visually inspect and measure parts
• Ability to work independently or with a team

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine unit or piece(s) to be built
• Program, set up, and operate fabricating machines, such as brake press, rolls, shears, grinders, mills, cold saws, punches, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components
• Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan or review work activities or to resolve production problems
• Use visual inspection techniques to verify quality of product
• Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using rulers and measuring tapes
• Assist in troubleshooting efficiency and effectiveness
• Maintain a clean, safe work area free of foreign materials
• Participate in training and cross-training efforts as needed
• Other duties as assigned
