Palliative Physician
About The Position
HopeHealth is seeking a full-time Palliative Care Physician to join the established Supportive Care team at the Brown University Health Cancer Institute (BUHCI) and Rhode Island Hospital. The team consists of palliative care physicians, a nurse practitioner, and a nurse navigator. Providers will care for patients with oncologic and hematologic malignancies and benign hematologic conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role is split 50% inpatient at Rhode Island Hospital and 50% outpatient in the supportive care clinic at BUHCI. There will be frequent opportunities for teaching palliative care fellows, residents, and medical students. This position offers an academic appointment at Alpert Medical School of Brown University. HopeHealth is a regional not-for-profit provider of hospice and palliative care in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, serving as the Major Teaching Affiliate of the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University for hospice and palliative medicine. They have strong partnerships with local hospitals to provide inpatient palliative care consultation.
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board eligible in HPM.
- Fellowship trained preferred.

Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient palliative care consultation at academic medical centers, community hospitals, long term care facilities, and patient’s homes.
- See patients with oncologic and hematologic malignancies and benign hematologic conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
- Conduct rounds on inpatient hospice unit beds.
- Cover phone calls for community hospice patients and palliative care consult team questions or issues.
- Participate in on-call duties, including weeknights and weekends/holidays.
- Teach palliative care fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Engage in quality improvement and research opportunities.
