Palliative Outpatient APRN / PA-C - Moffitt at Speros
About The Position
The outpatient palliative care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works in Moffitt Cancer Center’s Supportive Care Medicine Department and provides patient care under the auspices of the Moffitt Medical Group. The role is part of the academic medical enterprise and advances Moffitt’s mission to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. The provider assists physicians in evaluating, managing, and treating a broad range of patients with different medical problems, procedures, and comorbidities. The position operates within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physicians or specific protocols. Care is delivered as part of an interdisciplinary team in a collaborative environment.
Requirements
- At least a bachelor’s degree.
- Graduation from an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program.
- Active Florida medical license, or ability to obtain one.
- Certification by the appropriate accreditation body.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience in oncology or general internal medicine.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience specific to the specialty is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, coordinating with specialists to optimize care.
- Correlate subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.
- Formulate treatment plans for medical conditions within the scope of practice.
- Perform minor surgical procedures when appropriate and within the scope of practice.
- Prescribe oral and intravenous medications when appropriate and within the scope of practice.
- Document patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.
- Assist physicians with the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients with varied medical problems, procedures, and comorbidities.
