About The Position

The Palliative Medicine program at Northside Hospital (NSH) aims to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients facing complex or life-limiting illnesses at any stage of their disease process. Our goal is to reduce suffering and improve the quality of life for these patients and their families, in collaboration with the healthcare team. This position is a key part of the Palliative Interdisciplinary team, providing palliative medicine consultation for seriously ill patients and their families. Duties include comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluation, meticulous symptom management, and participation in discharge planning and continuity of care efforts, all in accordance with NSH standards. Educational initiatives in palliative medicine are also a crucial aspect of this role. The position promotes excellence in care and customer service, serving as a role model for nursing knowledge and clinical practice.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Nursing from an Accredited College or University.
• Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in area of clinical focus.
• Effective analytical and organization skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to educate others and serve as a positive change agent.
• Leadership skills to direct others toward the successful treatment of patients.
• Analytical skills to evaluate patient’s status and healthcare procedures/techniques and to monitor quality of care.
• Fiscal skills to monitor and control costs and revenue.
• Willingness to learn and remain flexible in the changing healthcare environment.
• Ability to assist staff in times of crisis or emergency.
• Ability to conceptualize, develop, and implement new ideas or systems.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while performing duties.
• Ability to meet with the public outside the institution and efficiently market and promote cancer treatment.
• Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
• BLS Certification every two (2) years.
