About The Position

The Palletizer Operator is responsible for producing pallets of properly stacked and stretch-wrapped product, ensuring they are ready for warehouse storage. This role involves operating and troubleshooting palletizing machinery, coordinating with material handling, and maintaining quality standards throughout the process.

Requirements

  • Experience running large machines.
  • Fast-paced production experience preferred.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • Experience within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 55lbs (approximately 15% of the time).
  • Willingness to work in hot and cold climates.
  • Must wear Steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, and Hair Net.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure palletizing machines are running at all times.
  • Troubleshoot palletizer machine malfunctions and abnormalities in a timely manner to maintain overall line efficiency, including issues with shuttle cars, wrappers, and photo eyes.
  • Inform maintenance of any necessary equipment repairs.
  • Select appropriate palletizing patterns.
  • Verify code dates at each changeover.
  • Notify forklift drivers of changeovers.
  • Ensure pallets are of acceptable quality and comply with QA standard guidelines.
  • Check pallet patterns for each product.
  • Verify that the palletizer is set up for the correct bag size and pattern.
  • Optimize stack patterns to uphold the best quality for the customer by minimizing overhang, eliminating product gaps, and presenting a tightly stacked symmetrical pallet.
  • Coordinate material handling and maintain open communication with forklift drivers to prevent material shortages.
  • Communicate with Parsons/Thiele operators to plan for upcoming changeovers.
  • Change materials as needed when changing products, ensuring the correct materials (pallets, slip sheets, film) are utilized per product.
  • Assist the manifestor in the LP process and cover the manifest station during breaks.
  • Verify the accuracy of LPs applied to pallets, ensuring G-Code and quantity are correct.
  • Participate as a member of the team, contributing to team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Attend team meetings and foster cohesiveness regarding major issues.
  • Accept responsibility to identify areas lacking cohesiveness and work with the team leader and team to resolve issues.
  • Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the organization.
  • Understand and support Simmons' established operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).
  • Consider the impact of individual actions on the systems and communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
