About The Position

The Palletizer Operator is responsible for producing pallets of properly stacked and stretch-wrapped product, ensuring they are ready for warehouse storage. This role involves operating and troubleshooting palletizing machinery, coordinating with material handlers, and ensuring product quality and accuracy throughout the process.

Requirements

  • Experience running large machines.
  • Fast-paced production experience preferred.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk and lift up to 55lbs.
  • Lifting of up to 55lbs will likely take place 15% of the time.
  • Steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, Hair Net (Personal Protective Equipment).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the palletizing machines are running at all times.
  • Troubleshoots all palletizer machine malfunctions/abnormalities in a timely manner to maintain over-all line efficiency, including troubleshooting the machine, shuttle cars, wrappers, and photo eyes.
  • Informs maintenance of any repairs needed on any equipment.
  • Selects appropriate palletizing pattern.
  • Verifies code date at each changeover.
  • Notifies forklift driver of changeovers.
  • Ensures pallets are of acceptable quality and comply with QA standard guidelines.
  • Checks pallet pattern for each product.
  • Verifies that the palletizer is set up for the correct bag size and pattern.
  • Optimizes stack patterns to uphold the BEST quality for the customer by minimizing over-hang, eliminating product gaps, and presenting a tightly stacked symmetrical pallet.
  • Coordinates material handling and keeps open communication with the forklift driver to ensure lines do not run out of materials.
  • Communicates with Parsons/Thiele operators to plan ahead for upcoming changeovers.
  • Changes materials out as needed when changing products, ensuring the correct materials (pallets, slip sheets, film) are utilized per product.
  • Assists the manifestor in the LP process and covers the manifest station during breaks.
  • Verifies ACCURACY of LPs applied to pallets, ensuring G-Code and quantity are CORRECT.
  • Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness and brings them to the attention of the team leader, working with the team to resolve issues.
  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity and support these systems.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
