About The Position
The Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing and applying primers and finish paints, and ensuring the quality of the paint job meets customer specifications. This role also involves completing required paperwork, performing routine maintenance on paint equipment and booths, and adhering to safety protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Valid State issued driver's license.
- Required to wear SCBA and full PPE.
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.

Responsibilities
- Cleans and prepares surfaces to be painted.
- Applies masking tape over parts or areas that are not to be painted, or for special two-tone paint jobs.
- Smooths surface areas with sandpaper or sander.
- Selects and mixes primers and finish paint colors per job specification and diagrams.
- Pours primers and paints into spray container and connects gun to air hose.
- Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
- Applies prime or finish coat using a spray gun.
- Coats some areas by hand with brushes and rollers.
- Cleans spraying equipment with brushes and solvent.
- Completes paint thickness measurements using Elcometer in millimeters and recording average thickness to meet customer specification.
- Completes required paperwork for paint usage, inspection report, and inventory orders.
- Performs routine maintenance to paint booth, scrap walls, and paint, clean lights, change filters.
