Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of two years related experience and/or training.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Subject to annual respirator fit testing.

Responsibilities

  • Loads and transports materials to work area.
  • Cleans and prepares materials to be painted with abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade loaded into a machine hopper.
  • Regulates pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through the nozzle.
  • Applies tape over areas that are not to be coated.
  • Fills containers.
  • Mixes paints and additives to prescribed quantities.
  • Prepares and adjusts spray equipment for proper use which includes; filling liquid container, connecting air hose to spray gun and proper nozzle.
  • Sprays onto work surfaces with proper technique to apply primer or finish coat.
  • Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer with brush.
  • Cleans equipment and work areas.
  • Performs required preventative maintenance including replacing screens and filters.
  • Stages painted product for drying.
  • Identifies and transfers finished pieces to stockroom or shipping areas.
  • Is highly skilled at performing all aspects of the coatings process.
  • Focuses on maintaining quality assurance requirements.
  • Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.
  • Tests finished paint products for dry film thickness as specified.
