About The Position
Under general supervision, the Painter cleans, prepares, and paints parts using specified procedures and techniques. Inspects incoming parts for flaws or lack of finish and notifies supervisor of exceptions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Military, trade school or community college coursework in hydraulic-mechanical assembly, repair, and troubleshooting desired.
- This position requires a high level of physical flexibility, strength, and stamina, including the ability to: see and assess drawings, photos, and written instructions; audibly hear verbal instructions and mechanical signals (forklifts, cranes, machine alarms, etc.); and speak, read, write, and communicate effectively.
- To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, an individual must be willing and able to have full range of body movement: head, neck, shoulders; reach overhead; work overhead; reach, lift, push/pull, walk, climb, kneel, bend; good dexterity and range of movement in fingers, hands and wrists.

- repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
- maintain confidence and balance while working on ladders up to 12 feet tall.
Responsibilities
- Performs basic metal preparation for specified paint applications
- Ability to work independently with supervision (self-starter/self-motivated)
- Under direct supervision, applies primer to parts and paint in accordance with AMSI and/or customer specifications and requirements
- Assists in organizing and cleaning storage areas to maintain efficient operation
- Read and understand basic drawings and schematics
- Assist higher level Painters in the preparation and painting process
- Provide input on quality, cost, and production issues
- Assist in the detection of defective material, unusual conditions, and report to supervisor
- Ability to explain the location, use, and definition of MSDS
- Accurate and timely completion of area specific documentation
- Ability to demonstrate safe crane operation and rigging fundamentals under direct supervision
