About The Position

Blair Image Elements is looking for dedicated, reliable individuals to join our Painting team in Altoona. In this role, you'll be responsible for painting prepared signs and sign components with the correct paint product for the material, using hand application spray equipment, to a finish that consistently exceeds our customers' high standards. Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints/prints, or learn to read them
  • Ability to follow instructions and work quickly, maintaining quality standards
  • Basic math skills - able to accurately read a tape measure
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Comfortable working around paints and solvents, including strong odors and fumes (respirator equipment provided)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • High degree of dependability -- able to consistently maintain a regular work schedule, including scheduled overtime as production requires
  • Responsible team players eager to contribute
  • Prior painting or spray equipment experience

Responsibilities

  • Painting prepared signs and sign components using hand application spray equipment
  • Reading and working from prints, painting materials to specification
  • Mixing and matching paint colors, and loading spray equipment for daily work
  • Masking signs for multiple color paint applications
  • Priming steel and other substrates to prevent rust and ensure durability
  • Working with multiple paint types, including epoxies, enamels, and urethanes
  • Operating and performing basic maintenance on spray guns and spray booths
  • Using the computer/kiosk to log jobs, clock production hours, and check the production scheduler
  • Checking quality of work against print specifications before and after painting
