The Painter position is responsible for performing assigned duties related to the painting and packaging of speed reducers or gear boxes. This role involves performing the painting process for completed units for shipment according to established methods, procedures, and standards. The painter will inspect units to ensure housings are free from lubricant and dirt before painting, and prepare units by masking shafts, bores, and oil seals correctly. They will also ensure unit nameplates and shafts are protected from paint, and that units move smoothly along the paint line. The role requires ensuring all unit surfaces are coated, following instructions for keeping spray equipment clean, and cleaning paint booths and related equipment. The painter will operate an overhead hoist, keep accurate records of painted units, and perform some final assembly when applicable. A key part of the role is inspecting units to ensure they are painted according to standards and packing units correctly using a one-piece flow method, matching labels and boxes. This includes packing units in appropriate cartons using proper liner, foam, and packing paper, and operating foam packing, strapping, and tape machines. The painter will also assist the Distribution department with preparation and shipment of finished goods as required, and comply with environmental and EHS regulations regarding hazardous waste, chemical storage, and PPE.
