About The Position

A Painter, VPC under the leadership of the Manager and the Foreperson, Body Shop, VPC will support the process to satisfy new and current customer demands for vehicles by providing the vehicles to dealers and customers that meet their demands. A Painter will 1) repaint damaged vehicles to factory standard quality and 2) guide assigned painter’s helpers to prepare vehicles for painting in the body shop.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend written and oral English instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively discuss information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate painting skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of painting practices and techniques.
  • Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Is able to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets for products used in processing.
  • Is able to communicate effectively – orally and in writing.
  • Understand Body Shop productivity measurements.
  • Ability to apply common sense.
  • Has valid driver’s license.
  • Is legally able to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Repaint assigned vehicles.
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure it is properly prepared for repainting or two-tone painting
  • Prepare paint.
  • Repaint vehicles to factory standards inside safe paint booths.
  • Check completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
  • Report all mismatches and paint defects to management.
  • Minor body work (bumpers small repair) mldgs bumper replacement some bondo work
  • Work safely.
  • Comply with all safety rules particularly those dealing with working in confined spaces or in service pits.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe storage room, mixing room, and working area.
  • Use shop equipment and tools safely.
  • Dispose of paints, paint containers, and any hazardous wastes properly.
  • Report all accidents immediately.
  • Assist other associates as needed and/or directed by management.
